FAQ: What is sleep apnea and how do I know if I have it?

Sleep apnea (睡眠窒息症) causes breathing to stop repeatedly during sleep. Signs include loud snoring, daytime fatigue, and poor memory. AMED's home sleep test (HK$780) measures AHI, oxygen levels, snoring and body movement to help diagnose OSA. Consult a doctor for formal diagnosis.

FAQ: How do I book the home sleep test?

Book online at amedical.com.hk/en/online-booking or WhatsApp 9382 6453. Pick up the device from the Prince Edward shop on the same day; wear it overnight (minimum 4 hours sleep required); return it the next day and AMED will generate your report.

FAQ: How much does the sleep test cost?

The sleep test costs HK$780, plus a HK$2,000 refundable deposit payable when you pick up the device. The deposit is returned after the test.

FAQ: What is the rent-to-purchase plan and how does it work?

You pay HK$800 for a 2-week trial plus a HK$3,000 deposit. You take any auto CPAP home to try. If you decide to buy, both the rental fee and deposit are deducted from the purchase price. If you return the machine undamaged, the deposit is refunded. Rental not refunded if no purchase is made.

FAQ: Can I extend the rental period beyond 2 weeks?

Yes. Rental is calculated weekly (minimum 2 weeks). You can pay additional weekly fees to extend the trial. Contact AMED before your rental period ends to arrange an extension.

FAQ: What is the CPAP monthly plan and who is it for?

The monthly plan (HK$500/month, min 3 months, HK$1,000 deposit) is for people who want long-term rental without committing to purchase. Includes an auto CPAP with humidifier, monthly usage report, and 10% discount on masks and tubes.

FAQ: Which CPAP brands does AMED sell?

AMED stocks ResMed (AirSense 10, AirSense 11, AirMini), Philips Respironics (DreamStation2, SimplyGo Mini), Koike Medical Jusmine & Jusmine J (official agent), iNAP One (exclusive agent), Transcend (official agent), Inogen Rove 6 (official agent). ResMed and Philips are parallel imports; AMED is not their official agent.

FAQ: What is iNAP One and how is it different from CPAP?

iNAP One uses negative pressure (suction) rather than positive air pressure. A small device draws the tongue and soft palate forward via a mouthpiece, keeping the airway open. It is quieter and more compact than CPAP. AMED is the exclusive HK and Macau agent.

FAQ: What warranty comes with a CPAP machine?

Main unit: 2-year free warranty covering labour and parts. Humidifier: 1-year warranty. UV sanitiser: 1-year warranty. Covers manufacturer defects only — not human damage, misuse, or natural disaster. Accessories (masks, tubes, filters) are not covered.

FAQ: What happens if my CPAP breaks during the warranty period?

AMED sends it back to the manufacturer for repair at no cost (labour, parts, and return shipping all free). They lend you a machine of the same grade free of charge while yours is being repaired.

FAQ: What does the out-of-warranty repair cost?

An HK$800 inspection and quote fee is charged (only after you accept the quote). You then pay the repair cost. Free loan machine is still available for AMED-purchased machines within 5 years of purchase. Inspection fee is non-refundable.
